feeding tubes

I am astounded at how many of you commented on that last post in such a short time! It truly humbles me to realize that so many are routinely 'checking in' on our family, wanting to know what to pray for.

I wanted to let you know that the neonatologist came and visited with us about 25 minutes ago. He was very kind and simply said that many, many babies of Copeland's size - irregardless of their underlying problems - need feeding tubes. It's a relatively common way to make sure they remain fed and can survive as long as the Lord permits. He wanted to be sure Conor and I were okay with administering that kind of 'life-saving' technique; we told him that we absolutely wanted her to have every opportunity to live when the choice was in our hands. If the Lord chooses to take her because of something we cannot prevent, we will know His sovereignty. But at this point, we believe He's giving us an option that will protect and provide for our sweet girl. The conversation went smoothly and even as we speak, Copeland should be eating. Please continue to pray that she will, in fact, respond well to the tubes.

We are off to bed... Conor and I both feel strongly that at this point, Copeland is being cared for by exceptional people who have exceptional skills and we rest peacefully as the nurses and doctors in the NICU tend to our sweet girl.

We love you and thank you for your unbelievable support.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! I have not been able to access your post until now (computor problems), and am so thankful that you and Conor are keeping us (your blog family) up to date about the arrival of your sweet Baby Girl. Sellers was so excited today when your family came to school to pick her up. I know she is a proud Big Sister!
Please give Miss Copeland a kiss from me!
Continuing to pray~

Throughout today, I was more and more aware of the functioning of the body of Christ. I got emails, phone calls from those sittingon the edge of their seats, waiting for the arrival of Copeland! Praying! It filled my heart so much to realize what a blessedness we have being a part of the Body of Christ. When one part is in need of assistance, help, love, others are on their knees offering prayers to the Father. It seems too simple at times; but, that's all the Father needs to do His work. It's a priviledge to be a part of this. We rejoice with you and continue to pray for all of you. Copeland might get tired of all the hugs everyone wants to be given to her. Lots of kisses will do, too. We love you!

constantly praying. this song has been in the back of my mind since i've been reading your blog (since june).

"Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

O, how great Thy loving kindness,
Vaster, broader than the sea!
O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!
Yes, I rest in Thee, Belov├Ęd,
Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
Know Thy certainty of promise,
And have made it mine.

Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
I behold Thee as Thou art,
And Thy love, so pure, so changeless,
Satisfies my heart;
Satisfies its deepest longings,
Meets, supplies its every need,
Compasseth me round with blessings:
Thine is love indeed!

Ever lift Thy face upon me
As I work and wait for Thee;
Resting ’neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
Earth’s dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father’s glory,
Sunshine of my Father’s face,
Keep me ever trusting, resting,
Fill me with Thy grace.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

May God continue to pour His love & peace upon you all. Thanks for allowing us to witness this great miracle, Copeland and her precious family...

We praise the Lord for Copeland's life each and every time we read an update; our family literally stops everything and shouts praises out loud!

We can remember what it was like to visit our baby Hope in the NICU. It was scary to see her and hold her with all of the attachments that were hooked onto her tiny body. However, it was in NICU that the Father began to teach us a new kind of compassion than we had known before. Little Copeland is fearfully and wonderfully made----knitted together just as God intended for His purposes and ultimate plan. Not one thing is beyond His control or outside of His authority; even every atom in our universe lines up under His direction, for if it did not, He wouldn't be God. However, at the same time, Copeland still very much needs the tender care of her family as well as the assistance of the NICU. Perhaps herein lies the mystery: God's complete sovreignty meets our free will.

We are so thankful that you have chosen life and love for this precious little one. Be certain of this: the blessings to come through this experience are more incredible than you can even imagine!

Loads of Love from the Hollis Gang

Boothe and Conor,

I am thanking God this morning for the blessings He has showered on you through this journey, asking Him to continue giving you your hearts desires and meet each one of your needs. My heart pounds as I feel the joy in your words. What a miracle.
The picture in my mind all day yesterday was the internet (Us) waiting on the other side of the delivery room door as family, all praying and waiting for the news. This is how close all of us feel to you right now. What a blessing to be prayer warriors for your family and Copeland. I hope you had the most glorious sleep and sweet dreams last night as you trusted your new treasure to God first and all others in the NICU second. I will continue to ask God to remove all fear, anxiety, doubt, guilt, and replace it with His Sweet Peace and Comfort and Hope, Hope and more Hope. May He give you renewed strength for today and keep the joy flowing in your hearts. God has done great things and will continue to show Himself in the days ahead.
May His grace be abundant in Copelands little perfect body. She is so loved.

I came across your blog yesterday and was very moved by it. While sitting in Bible study last night they began to sing this song and I felt as though I needed to share it:
For the Lord is good and His love endures forever
He's a faithful God to all generations
For the Lord is good and His mercies will not fail us
They are new each day
O lift your voice and say the Lord is good
Great is your faithfulness O Lord
Your loving kindness fills our hearts to overflowing
Songs of rejoicing and sweet praise
They fill our hearts
They fill our days

Lord, I come to You this morning with a thankful heart. Thankful that You are God. Thankful that You've allowed a way for Your creation to be redeemed back to You. Thankful for the opportunity You give us to enter Your throne room on behalf of our brothers and sisters. Thankful that You hear the cries of Your children. Thankful that You've seen fit to bless this little girl with parents who would choose life. Thankful that You are allowing her to live outside of the womb. Thankful for the care being recieved at this hospital. How awesome You are. Lord, I ask that You continue to manifest Yourself in this situation. Lead, guide, direct, comfort, protect, and may we never fail to give You all the praise and glory. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Keep us sweet in our souls. In Jesus name, Amen.

Conor and Boothe,
Several times last night I awoke thinking of you and praying for your beautiful Copeland. Pat is in DC but is keeping up with you closely. Blake is anxious to see all of you. We have advised her to wait a few days as new moms are often overwhelmed with visitors and on't get much rest. May God hold you close letting you bask in his glory and peace. We continue to pray.

Boothe & Conor,
I opened my devotional book by C.H. Spurgeon this morning, and it said, "I prayed for this child" 1 Sam. 1:27!! "Hannah's one heaven-given child was dearer far, because he was the fruit of earnest pleadings." How freeing it is to cry tears of JOY this morning, as I picture your family all snuggled up together in your hospital bed watching tiny Copeland open her little hands and breathe on her own. What an amazing display of the Father's love for you - truly a gift that you will treasure in your hearts always. I know your journey is just beginning, but don't let the dread of what might be overshadow the blessing of today, this moment. Bask in the light of His glory shining upon your sweet family. We are thrilled for you! Having experienced our little Asa's arrival just 2 weeks ago, I know that feeling of holding your own for the first time, and there's nothing like it! We will continue to pray for God's mercy and grace to hem you in and guard your hearts in Christ Jesus.
With much love,
Kim, John Calvin, Izalou & Asa
