the road ahead...

Dear family and friends...
I am about to head to bed, but I wanted to let you all know where we stand... Thanks to my sister's post, I know you are aware we had another wonderful day with Copeland. Discussions with a neonatologist also gave us some peace about taking her home and sharing her last moments with family there, in a more familiar place, so as we enter our final night here at the hospital, I confess my hopes have changed somewhat and we look forward to the possibility of packing our baby girl up tomorrow for the ride back to our house. Sellers has excitedly agreed to show her baby sister her room, despite the fact that we know she won't be there for long. I know the Lord knows what is best and we are trying to trust Him in that. I know all of you can appreciate that it's hard at times.

Today was fantastic... as Chelsea said, Copeland rarely had a "blue spell," her temperature stayed consistently high, and her heartrate was strong. We felt blessed to share in her dedication with some family and friends. I will always remember our precious, precious time here in the hospital. These have been some of the best hours of our life.

It is hard knowing that in the impending days ahead - if the Lord grants us those with our girl - we wiil be facing some difficult moments. Trisomy-18 will continue to take its toll on Copeland's body and I know it will require a strength Conor and I certainly won't have without the Lord to face that head-on. There is just only so much we can do to alleviate her suffering. We continue to covet and appreciate your prayers, both to rejoice with us and also to cover us and lay us before the throne.

We love you all..
Boothe

Enjoy your time at home with your precious babe. I am amazed at her strength. How *is* she doing it?! Especially only on sugar. What a champion. And I think your love helps. How could you not respond to it?

Bless you heaps and heaps. Know that you are always on my mind, even though we have never met and we don't live in the same country... and my husband has started asking how Copeland is doing!

Please call my friend Cathy, at 409-673-5064 if you need encouragement. She left you a note, but I know she would love to be of further encouragement should you give her a call. She is raising a tri-18 baby who is now 2 1/2 years old. Little Annabelle is a precious little gift from the Lord.

We've never met, but I have been reading your blog for the past month or so. I heard about your sweet family from a mutual friend in Nashville (where my husband and I lived for 6 years). We are now living in Los Angeles where I am a pediatric nurse practitioner and my husband is a seminary student. Your writing has regularly moved me to tears. Your strength and trust in God absolutely shines through your posts. Thank you for sharing your story. You guys are continually in my prayers.

Boothe, I'm so excited that you get to bring her home. I pray that the Lord will greatly bless your time at home with her. I pray that He will ease your fears of being away from the hospital and that you rest in Him, in your home and with your family. I pray for Sellers too!

Every time I think of y'all or pray for y'all the Rich Mullins song "Hold Me Jesus" comes to my mind and this is my prayer for y'all today...
So hold me Jesus, 'cause I'm shaking like a leaf, you have been King of my glory, won't you be my Prince of Peace

Boothe, there is no doubt He has been King of your glory and now I pray that He will be your Prince of Peace! Hugs to you, Conor, Sellers, Copeland and the whole family! I pray that you are richly blessed by bringing her home!

I've been checking your blog every few hours since Copeland came into this world. I stand in amazement of the Lord, again, at how He has blessed your family with life. I am overwhelmed with joy and amazement at how all of you find a blessing in one more day of life. May the Lord continue to surround all of your with His love as your lay all of your lives before His throne. Thank you for being such a bright light of His love in this world.

I am continually amazed at your postings every time I check, which is every time I am near the computer, how faithful and strong you are. Your trust in God is humbling and I have learned so much from your family. You have energized my walk and faith again today. Enjoy your time in your home that I am sure is as welcoming and comfortable as your family is. May God wrap His love around you every minute and hold you close. Have a safe trip home.
I wish you lived closer to me, we're in Texas, I would cook mountains for you! (weirdly enough that is my "hobby") We are keeping you in prayer constantly
and feel honored to have "met" you. You and your precious family are such a blessing.

I have never met you. In fact, I live in Missouri, but came across your story on another blog. I have checked your site repeatedly throughout the days to get the update on your precious little Copeland. What a beautiful baby she is, and I am so glad you and your family have been able to spen such sweet time together. We will certainly be praying for this next phase in your journey of bringing little Copeland home with you...we will pray for you and your husband to feel God's strength when your own fails you, that you will enjoy the experience of bringing your little one home with you, and that Copeland will be physically comfortable in the time she has left with you. Blessings and love to you, Amanda

I will continue to pray for you, Boothe, and your sweet family as you take your Copeland home. I will pray for Sellers, too, as the big sister that this will be a blessing for her as well. Like I have said before, your family's strength and faith has changed my life. I will be forever grateful that you have allowed me to get a glimpse of this story.

My wife and I have been reading this blog closely over the last few days. Boothe, I had the privilege of sitting with your Mom and Dad in July for dinner. We have an 11 month old and he shared some very special words with me about you.

Your blogs have given me so much perspective! My wife and I don't know you, but look forward to meeting you some day.

We pray for your family - and I can tell you even through reading this blog Copeland has blessed OUR lives.

YOUR FAMILY IS AMAZING AND LOVED!

Boothe, Connor, Sellars and Copeland,

How happy I am as you celebrate this very special homecoming! Your faith, peace and joy in God's work in your lives has been an incredible inspiration to me.

You undoubtedly wouldn't have chosen this path but your acceptance and willingness to praise and honor God, as you struggle to take each step, will no doubt impact many, many lives for Christ. Copeland must be one of God's special princesses. To be chosen to be Mommy and Daddy for this beautiful ambassador from the Lord is a Holy honor. I am humbled and blessed by your example. I will continue to lift you up to Him.

Love, Betsy P.
