8:00 p.m. Sunday

It is 7:45 and we have spent the last hour or so praying over Copeland. I decided to take her temperature to see if that was one reason she might be struggling and it was very low. It's still warm here in Nashville so we sat outside with her and wrapped her in blankets from the dryer and hoped just being away from some air conditioning might help. Her color is still what the nurses called "dusky." I am doing everything in my power to keep her warm and content, which she seems to be, considering she's sleeping in her daddy's arms right now.

I know you all are praying fiercely and I continue to ask you to lift us up. I pray constantly that the Lord would stir in your hearts and remind you of Copeland, which I know He is faithful to do. God has pressed upon my heart that if I will pray specifically, He will be quick to hear and answer. Before the last post, as I wept over her outside, I prayed He would fill her lungs with oxygen and cause her to breathe by whatever means necessary - I asked Him to make her cry. When we came inside, she was bundled, resting peacefully in my arms, and suddenly started screaming. I know He responded immediately to my prayers. I know He heard my words and mercifully answered the ache in this mother's heart.

And so, on that note, I would ask you to pray for several specific things until our next post: one, that she would keep crying, if necessary. That the Lord would wake her body up as often is required to keep her warm and to keep her oxygenated. Two, that the despair and helplessness I feel would be replaced by dependence on the Father and a rest in His absolute power and might. Finally, I pray against any work of the evil one who would seek to undermine Jesus' work in the middle of this strenuous time. I pray every purpose and plan He has for this incredible trial in our lives will prevail, that He will be honored and glorified, and that no weapon set against our family would prosper. We find rest in the shadow of His wings.

boothe,
my favorite verse is phil. 4:13. "I can do all things thru Christ Jesus who strengthens me". It is on my leather Bible cover that Helene made for me when i was 15. I had no idea at the time, how many times i would need that verse. Hold on to it. Pray it, say it over and over. God will walk you through it.

Boothe,

The Lord is indeed faithful to bring Copeland to mind and stir our hearts to pray for her. I cannot get her or your family out of my mind, even in my sleep. I fall asleep praying for you and wake doing the same. My little girls are thanking God for Copeland every time they do the same for Miller Grace during the blessing at each meal. We are storming Heaven's gates all the time. I will do as you ask and start asking Him specifically to warm Miss Copeland, to bring her the oxygen she needs, and to let His peace envelop each one of you.

His grace is sufficient for each of us.

Boothe, as a mother, I weep with you. I will pray specifically. I will continue to lift you up. I also praise God for the joyous moments that you have shared as a family over the last 5 days. The more you feel insecure and pressured by Satan, the harder we will keep praying to drive him away from this child and her suffering family. You will rest in the Lord. He is hearing our prayers. He is answering them. HE is FAITHFUL!!! May the Lord Bless you and keep you, may the Lord make his face smile upon you and be graceous to you, may the Lord look upon you, and give you peace. Amen.

Dear Boothe, I continue to lift you up to the Lord in prayer as you are on my mind constantly like breathing.
I pray for your aching and fearful heart to be calmed and comforted by our heavenly Father right now. No evil shall pass in this moment of Gods perfect plan. He hears your cries and He is answering you. I pray Gods warmth and breath to pass all over her and in her, now. I pray you take every despairing thought of helplessness to his feet and rest in His might to work it all out for Good. His plan WILL prevail, He is God over all and is being glorified and honored and He will give you rest in the shadow of His wings. You have no idea the army of prayer warriors who are storming heavens gates on your family's behalf but I know there are more than enough for God to hear and honor all requests for you. You are doing everything possible for Copeland and it is pleasing to the Lord. Trust Him, Love Him, Rest in Him. Hold on to Conor as He holds on to you. God has His arms tightly wrapped around you.

James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

Psalm 8
O Lord, our Lord
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?
You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
You made him ruler over the works of your hands;
you put everything under his feet;
all flocks and herds,
and beasts of the field,
the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic if your name in all the earth!

I pray that you may you all feel lifted high tonight, protected, cherished, chosen by God, and chosen to be Copeland's protectors and providers until He has her in His arms. You are doing good works - for His glory - and loving your girls well. Give your insecurities over to Him - he wants to take them from you! I pray you feel the freedom to do that!

Conor and Boothe,

I don't think any of us can let the Farley family stray from our thoughts for any length of time. I think it is quite evident from all the responses, that countless people like me, check the blog often during the day. It binds us to you, to your family, the Lord, and even each other as we share in this time together. I can only imagine how difficult this time is for a parent - knowing every moment with your precious little girl could be your last - and yet that knowledge probably makes you cherish every moment more than the rest of us do. May we all be reminded how fragile life is for each of us. I am reminded of one of my favorite scriptures. Isaiah 43:1-3 has seen me through so many trials. Fear not for I have redeemed you. I have summoned you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you; When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the falmes will not set you ablaze. Even now as I write this you may feel the water is rising to the tip of your nose or that the flames are intensifying. God is right with you and promises you won't be drowned or consumed. I pray for the peace that doesn't make sense for you and Conor. I pray for sweet time for you to look into each other's eyes and even without words be able to communicate your devotion to our Lord and each other. I pray comfort. Thank you for letting us into your pain and struggle and walk of faith. We are all being blessed through your honestly and vulnerability. God's glory is shining brightly.

I am praying for all of you, but specifically for Sellers and the road you will be walking with her. I cannot even begin to comprehend how I would explain to my daughter the things you are having to teach yours. And I know you must be so exhausted physically, from giving birth alone, not to mention the stress of Copeland's struggles. I pray you and Conor will find rest and strength.

I am so sorry to hear that she has been struggling today. Something that may help her temperature is what we call "Kangrooing' in the NICU. Essentially, you put Copeland's chest on your chest- skin to skin (she can wear a diaper). You can wrap a blanket on the backside of her body to hold in more heat. This allows her body to take some heat from your body and is VERY comforting to most newborns. If she seams to have breathing difficulty, just elevate her chin to open her airway. Hopefully this will help. Also, I think breastfeeding was a wonderful choice. Breastmilk is so much easier to digest and babies seem to like the taste better. If you want to ask me something, my email is c.mcwhirter@yahoo.com and you have my number. We have not stopped praying for you. Your faith is incredible.

Boothe,
You don't know me but Katie Compton has forwarded your prayer requests to our group of friends over the last few weeks. Your family has been constantly on my mind and has, seemingly, taken root in my heart. Your faith, total dependence on God, and sweet heart that seeks after Him is such as example to me. The following is a passage from a bible study I just finished, Loving God with All Your Mind.

"There is nothing-no circumstance, no trouble, no testing-that can ever touch me until first of all it has gone past God and past Christ, right through to me. If it has come that fat, it has come with great purpose, which I may not understand at the moment. But as I refuse to become panicky, as I lift up my eyes to him and accept it as coming from the throne of God for some great purpose of blessing to my heart, no sorrow will ever disturb me, no trial will ever disarm me, no circumstance will cause me to fret--for I shall rest in the joy what my my Lord is--That is the rest of victory."

Know that I am standing in the gap for you and praying for wisdom and overwhelming peace throughout the night. My prayer for baby Copeland is that she knows how much she is loved not only by you guys but also by Jesus, that she is warmed, and that she continues to cry in order to make her little lungs work and strengthen.

Boothe and Conor-

I have been reading your blogs for months and recently as many as 2-3 times a day since Copeland was born.I have been so awed by your faith and love for the Lord and have not written before because I felt so inadequate in my writing. But today as I was doing my weekly Bible study I felt I needed to write and give you these verses.

Hebrews 13:5 Never will I leave you : Never will I forsake you.

His Word promises He hears and answers our prayers. Prov. 15:29, Romans 8:26-27

He calms our fears. Do not be afraid: your prayer has been heard. Luke 1:13, 30

You are never far from my thoughts and constantly in my prayers. God bless you and your beautiful girls.

I have never commented before, but I have been reading since I found you through another blog two or three weeks ago. I am the aunt of another baby, Ashley, who is also stuggling for life. Your words touch and inspire me to the deepest part of my soul. You cause me to want to follow your family's example (your original and your immediate) of how to show forth Christ in the hard times. You have a beautiful testimony and absolutely STUNNING young ladies for daughters. I will be praying for your requests.

"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of of the Lord and may please him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light."
Colossians 1:9-12
Boothe - I am praying for you and your heart, and your precious family. Tonight at church Louie Giglio talked about how as believers we WILL have trouble in this world - the kind of trouble that shakes your faith to its very core... but the good news is that He has already overcome the world. I was thinking about you and your family all throughout the service. I got home and checked your blog and am praying for you all and wanting to encourage you but I feel like my words are so inadequate. "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lost heart."
Hebrews 12:2-3
Thank you for continuing to share your journey with all of us.
love you,
Christina Adams

Dear Boothe and Conor,

From the time you told us about the diagnosis of Copeland, God has been honored and glorified through your faith. We have all been inspired by your family seeing how the Lord has always been the focus despite the circumstances.

While reading your post, I have this picture of you watching over sweet Copeland having the blue spells. The pain must be beyond words although you know the outcome; that Copeland will be in heaven one day. I thought of the fact that our heavenly Father must felt the same way when He watched Jesus being crucified on the cross for our sins. This is the ultimate demonstration of His love for us. Boothe and Conor, God knows how much it hurts.

John 16:33, Jesus said to his disciples, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." And we are IN HIM, and so we are overcomers!! And yes, His purpose and plan will prevail.

Peace be with you,
Phemie

Continuing to pray for all of you...and also that you and Conor would find ways to connect with each other as you mentioned in an earlier post. Your love for each other and your girls is a sweet testimony to those of us who have been invited along on this journey with you.
Your transparency and vulnerability are blessing the Body of Christ in so many ways. God is using you, and your sweet girl, to encourage the faith of many. May He continue to get the glory!

Praise be to God for all He has done, for all He is doing, and for all He will do with little Copeland's life! As your hearts are full of both joy and grief, we are praying for you to continue to find hope in our God who gives "strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak" (Isaiah40:29). We'll be checking in often to see how we can pray for you. Your faith and humility have encouraged, challenged, and changed me.

Praying, praying, praying in Michigan. How wonderful that such an adorable tiny peanut can bring untold numbers of people to their knees.

Hoping that you will feel all of our prayers and that God blesses you with HIS peace that passes all understanding.

I pray that you feel totally comfortable to call the doctor or your NICU nurses (especially Carla: loved her suggestions tonight, she obviously cares about you all very much). They are professionals, they mean it when they say call with quetions. Even in the middle of the night.
If you are unsure or uneasy about something call and ask.

I will pray for wisdom and discernment, for an amazing unity between you and Conor, to be of one mind, one accord.

I pray for rest for you, Boothe, don't forget you just had major surgery and a baby! So glad you are with your wonderful parents.
You are an amazing Godly woman, I hold you up in prayer. I praise God for you and for your precious little Copeland and all that He has done and all that He will do!Praying for all you requested...

A group of ladies in Hawaii are praying for your family and especially for precious little Copeland. May the Lord continue to give each of you the faith and strength to hope for each new miracle He grants in Copeland's life. As He shows you His glory, may He comfort you with His powerful presence and peace of heart. Praise His glorious Name as He continues to hear and answer your prayers. We wait on Him with you...

Kathy said...

I need to clarify a comment I just made. What I meant to say about feeling free to call a doc or nurse is just that if they say please call they really want you to feel free to call anytime. I am saying this as an OB nurse who is happy to hear from a discharged patient if and when they need to ask a question, talk or just bounce something off of me.
Hoping you all are sound asleep...

Boothe,

It's 2:15 a.m. and Copeland and you are on my heart. Praying for a peaceful night for all of you. Isn't it incredible that the same Infinite One who hung the moon and the stars and spoke the planets into being cares so much more for the lillies of the field and the tiniest sparrow? How much more does He love you and your sweet little sparrow? If Copeland were the only human being ever born, Christ would have emptied all of Heaven and given Himself for her and her alone. Wonderous mercy, boundless love. Rest well, dear faithful daughter of God, angels attend thee. ~Renée

Jesus is watching over you and your family. He hears the ceaseless prayers and is holding each of you in his arms. Your faith is evident and so many have learned and been touched by it. I pray that Copeland is resting comfortably and that you and your family are granted a peace that passes understanding. Many of us in Texas are fervantly praying.

Boothe,
From my own personal journey with our "Baby Hope", I hope I can offer some thoughts:

Hope, at 2 years of age now, cannot walk or talk, she cannot follow simple commands, she has had 2 open-heart surgeries and a stomach surgery, she has double-vision and everything looks like a fuzzy blob through her eyes because she is so incredibly far-sighted. She sounds like a complete mess, but she is in actuality, a complete joy. Sincerely, we wouldn't change the last two years with her for anything!

In reading the above description, most people would hug their "normal" children and think about how thankful they are not to have my little Hope as their own child. I giggle as I type those words thinking how upside down our society is.

I have too many insights to share in a short blog, but there are a couple of things I want you to hear. Before Hope was born, I spent two years begging the Lord to draw me closer to Himself.....to teach me to know Him more. And I meant it with all of my heart. He has done that through Hope. I understand now what scripture means when it says the least on earth will be the greatest in the Kingdom----of course they will. The least on earth have sacrificed "normalcy" in order to teach the rest of us.

When I look at Hope, I see a little lamb who was given to me in response to my requests to God. He heard my cry to draw closer to Him, He then looked at my heart and knew the best way to get me to Him was through my children. You see, the issue with drawing closer to Him was never an issue for Him, it was with me.

I want you to know that Baby Copeland's life is not about whether she is going to live or die, and it never has been. Her life is about you, Conor, and Sellers. Instead of praying that He will take her, just think of how privileged you are to have been chosen for this awesome moment with the Lord. The Creator of the universe,
Who never makes mistakes, is drawing you all closer to Him. This is a teaching moment.....relish it and allow it to linger.

Our flesh wants things to go back to what we consider "normal"----however, the Holy Spirit (set-apart Spirit---different from the world) within us longs to go deeper, and to increase in faith and knowledge of the Father.

Rest in knowing that you are not in control of this situation---God knows the end from the beginning, so He already knows every tear you will cry, every prayer you will pray, and every thought you will think.

At the moment, you feel like you are lost in a forest, and you are probably thinking: "Where is the trail out of here?" Remember, He is preparing a path....a way through. He isn't going to use a big earth mover to come in and make the way wide and easy for you, because He wants you to learn to listen for His voice as He guides you through. He will remove the trees little by little, creating a narrow path, until finally one day you reach a clearing----everything will make perfect sense.

I hope this is an encouragement to you today. In life, there is a season for everything. This is your season to grow some more and to learn what it is He is trying to show you. Copeland is exactly what He has purposed her to be at the moment----it is those around her He desires to mold and change.

In closing, God did not "put" Trisomy 18 on little Copeland because of something you or Conor did or did not do. Sickness and disease are a result of our fallen world. He has, however, allowed it, so there is purpose in it. My prayer is simply this: that you and Conor will be forever changed for Him through Copeland. Enjoy your time with Copeland and Sellers---no one knows how much time we have left. For certain, one day we will all stand before God and will answer for our lives here on earth. I join you in making a decision to make the most of each moment, humbled that I have been chosen to know Him.
